You are right...textured paint can turn an ordinary white wall into something truly special and unique. Plus, Lowes and Home Depot has FREE classes to teach you how to do it!

Faux Finishes can be an easy home improvement for the DIY homeowner. Some faux finishes do create an added texture to the walls... and the old adage of "it's just paint... it can always just be painted over" does not apply. Care should be taken when deciding to paint over old faux textured paint treatments.

The proven test? Run your hand over the wall... if you can feel a bit of texture or ride... this will not be hidden with paint and must have added preparation before painting.

The ease of learning to paint faux bricks, tuscan style wall treatments and faux wood graining for beginner painters often amazes the new painter. Try it in a small area in your home... you will be hooked!

Just remember that ultimately with textured paint if you ever want to go back to a flat surface you'll have some work to do. They look great though.
